Garrett Wright has joined the AEPED team as manager – Economic & Business Development, effective April 5, 2021. Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wright will promote the AEP-Public Service Company of Oklahoma region to current and existing business customers, and will collaborate with our external economic development partners to achieve shared economic development goals.
Prior to joining our team, Wright served as the vice president for the Bay Economic Development Alliance (Bay EDA) for Bay County, Florida. Garrett’s focus in this role was to support existing employers in Bay County and the recruitment of new industry, in an effort to diversify the economy. During his tenure at Bay EDA, Garrett worked on multiple notable projects, including the successful recruitment of tier-one suppliers in the aerospace and automotive sectors, logistics and distribution operations, and a research and development technical center for Suzuki Motor Marine. While in Florida, Garett was active in the community with local development and nonprofit organizations.
Prior to joining the Bay County EDA team, Garrett worked with Eutaw Construction Company, Inc., performing project management on large civil construction projects around the Southeast, including Baton Rouge and Knoxville. Garrett also previously served as director of business development and economic development at the Area Development Partnership, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he was instrumental in a number of projects responsible for delivering thousands of jobs and significant financial investment into the community.
Garrett is a Mississippi native and alumnus of The University of Southern Mississippi, holding a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering and Master of Science in Economic Development. In his spare time, Garrett enjoys flipping houses, hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities.
