Three Sites in Arkansas Receive AEP Quality Sites Designation

Three sites in southwest Arkansas have earned the Quality Sites designation for project readiness. AEP subsidiary Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) finalized the designation with local partners.

The AEP Quality Sites program intends to make sites more competitive for projects considering a location within AEP-served communities. The AEP Quality Sites program ensures a site has completed due diligence to minimize risk, remove guesswork and accelerate speed to market. Since the program’s formation, five new industrial projects have located in Quality Sites served by AEP. The addition of these three sites in Arkansas brings the total number of Quality Sites to fifty.

The newly-certified sites through the Quality Sites program include:

  • Highway 32 Park – 378 acres of industrial park located north of Hope, adjacent to Hope Municipal Airport near Arkansas Hwy. 32 and Interstate 30. Program application completed by the Hempstead County Economic Development Corp. in coordination with Hope’s economic development team.
  • Prescott Industrial Park – 126 acres located northwest of Prescott with access to Interstate 30 and owned by the city of Prescott. Program application completed by the Prescott–Nevada County Economic Development Corp. in coordination with Prescott’s economic development team.
  • Maxwell Industrial Park – 37.5 acres in Texarkana, located adjacent to the Texarkana Airport near Interstate 49 and owned by the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce. Program application completed by the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce in coordination with Texarkana’s economic development team.

AEP contracted with engineering firm Burgess & Niple to conduct independent site reviews. Factors analyzed include available acreage, zoning, utilities, site access, environmental impacts, site restrictions and transportation access. The process included an analysis of an initial site survey and an assessment of the site through an in-depth meeting and tour with AEP and local economic development officials.
