AEPED joined the SelectUSA 2017 India Roadshow in March on its visit to New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Bangalore. Nearly 300 participants from Indian firms attended, approximately 100 in each city.
During the events, Indian investors connected with U.S. economic development organizations (EDOs), U.S. government officials and investment, legal and financial experts. Seminars were held in each city with presentations on key factors to consider when establishing a business in the United States, along with one-on-one matchmaking meetings between American EDOs and Indian investors.
The annual SelectUSA Roadshows provide a unique opportunity for AEPED to connect directly with a large number of foreign investors in multiple cities to showcase our regions and highlight our comprehensive location advisory services.
AEP had a booth in each city where investors could stop to meet and learn more about our services and why they should invest in AEP’s 11-state service territory. The United States, and AEP states in particular, are attractive and competitive destinations for Indian investors.
India is the ninth fastest growing source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States and helps supports U.S. jobs, with more than 52,000 American workers employed by Indian-owned firms in 2014. These firms also invested $96 million in research and development in 2014 and contributed $1.5 billion to U.S. exports.
The top six industry sectors for Indian FDI projects in the U.S. include software and IT services, business services, financial services, pharmaceuticals, plastics and industrial machinery.
In collaboration with our state, regional and local economic development partners, AEP is working to attract international investment to our service territory. Our recruitment efforts are primarily focused on these markets: Canada, China, Europe, India and Japan.
In June, we will be attending the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, DC. We hope to see you there!
