Demographic and Business Reports Available at the Click of a Button

The importance of demographic, business, and other community characteristics cannot be understated in site selection.  Location decisions are based not only on finding the right site as it pertains to size, topography, and infrastructure, but also proximity to workforce, markets, and other demographic and business factors. The challenge for site selectors, and even local economic development organizations needing this information on their own geography, is that it can be time consuming and costly to prepare.

CountyProfileExampleAEPED’s Interactive County Profile Tool makes finding this information easy for the 348 AEP-served counties across our 11 state service territory.  From each state page on aeped.com, simply select the County Profile Interactive Map option on the primary map viewer, and navigate the map or select the county from the dropdown list to download pertinent demographic and business reports, including:

  • Market Profile – contains population, housing, and income information for a county
  • Demographic and Income Profile Report – contains actual and projected demographic and income data for a county
  • Business Summary – contains data detailing businesses and employees in a county by SIC and NAICS industry codes.

For these reports, AEPED leverages ESRI Business Analyst Online (BAO), a powerful research tool capable of aggregating various data sources including the US Census, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Infogroup, and more.
