AEPED offers a Range of Research Services to Empower Local Communities
Over the last year, the American Electric Power Economic and Business Development Team (AEPED) has worked to establish an informative and fresh new web presence via AEPED.com. As we’ve progressed through the web design process identifying and creating content and implementing new ideas, our focus has been on providing self-service tools to our economic development partners, including our service territory locator, county profile interactive maps, and state and site-specific business and demographic data. While we anticipate these offerings will grow and for more tools to be added as our website evolves, it is also important to highlight the wide range of on-demand research and mapping services we provide to our customers on a daily basis.
The AEPED Research and Operations Group is not only responsible for updating AEPED.com, but also research, mapping, systems, and marketing. In these roles, we provide support to the central AEP economic development staff, as well as our economic development managers located throughout our 11-state service territory. As outlined in our Research Services Guide, the requests range from gathering workforce information about a region, to researching financial information on a prospective company, to mapping infrastructure and other assets in proximity to a location.
One of the primary purposes of providing these services is to support local economic development organizations respond to requests for information (RFIs). Working with the AEPED Research and Operations Group allows a community to supplement its needs with the expertise, experience, and resources of American Electric Power. Since many local economic development organizations don’t have the resources to dedicate to specialized research, data, and software, this partnership gives them an edge in attracting and retaining businesses to their communities.
