The Van Wert, Ohio community is budding with potential in part because of its involvement in AEP Ohio’s Community Economic Development Academy (CEDA). Working with this program, a 600-acre job-ready site has been created to attract potential companies to start building and potentially bringing an influx of jobs to the Van Wert area. As a result of the program, this site’s preparedness has improved because of the education, training, and practical knowledge imparted to community leaders.
Through the CEDA program, AEP Ohio helps local economic development professionals understand the types of information required by business for selecting sites for new facilities.
In the Van Wert community, we are helping community leaders find ways to attract businesses to their 600 industrial site, which provides ample assets for potential companies that include:
- Natural gas
- Highway access
- Rail spur
- Pre-annexation agreements
- Fiber optics
We and Van Wert hope that the company using this site will generate between 600 and 1,000 jobs in the area, further driving area growth and making Van Wert even more attractive to future residents and corporations.
Van Wert is one of dozens of communities in Ohio we’re supporting through the CEDA program.
